A new week is beginning, and so it’s time for another new startup focusing on NFTs and music. This one’s called Envoy Network, and it has announced its launch with $2.5m of funding and some advisers from our industry.

They include former Spotify head of dance Austin Kramer; Dutch DJ and producer Marlon Flohr (of Bassjackers); and the CEO of label Smash the House, Perry van de Mosselaar.

The company won’t just be creating NFTs based on music and musicians though: it will also be turning to the worlds of films, comics and other media and entertainment. Among its first drops will be NFTs created with creatives previously involved in brands like Marvel, Batman and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

However, music will be key too. “Through Smash the House, we will now provide every new dance artist that we sign with a new type of contract in which the release of Envoy NFTs is included, and we will offer them the tools to help them do this,” said Mosselaar.

First up: something called the ‘Decentraboard‘ – an ‘NFT-powered billboard’ in Times Square, New York which launches on 21 August.
